Welcome to Year 4!

After an unusual year in 2020, it is time to face the challenging and busy year ahead of us. Therefore, it is vital that you stay focused, work hard and take responsibility for your own learning.  Throughout the year, you will be provided with a range of exciting learning opportunities linking to each topic’s theme. This half term you will explore Emma Carroll's 'Secrets of a Sun King' and discover Lil's incredible journey to return a mysterious package and break the deadly pharaoh's curse!

General Reminders

Your child will receive a home reading book from school and is expected to read at home every evening and have their reading record signed by an adult. Reading regularly supports all aspects of learning by broadening their vocabulary and imagination.

Homework is none negotiable. It is an essential part of learning; enabling good progress to be made. Children will be given a piece of Maths, English and Comprehension each week, alongside weekly spellings. It must arrive promptly and to a high standard.

Monday: Maths homework – to be handed in on Wednesday

Wednesday: English homework – to be handed in on Friday

Friday: Comprehension homework – to be handed in on Tuesday

Friday: Spelling homework – to be handed in on the following Thursday

Children in Year 4 will no longer be taking part in weekly swimming lessons. Instead they will now be having weekly P.E sessions. These will take place on a Tuesday.
