Year 4 Class Page
Welcome to Year 4!
After an unusual year in 2020, it is time to face the challenging and busy year ahead of us. Therefore, it is vital that you stay focused, work hard and take responsibility for your own learning. Throughout the year, you will be provided with a range of exciting learning opportunities linking to each topic’s theme. This half term you will explore Philip Ridley's 'Krindlekrax' and find out what lurks between the pavement cracks of Lizard Street!
General Reminders
Reading
Your child will receive a home reading book from school and is expected to read at home every evening and have their reading record signed by an adult. Reading regularly supports all aspects of learning by broadening their vocabulary and imagination.
Homework (will resume when schools reopen)
Homework is none negotiable. It is an essential part of learning; enabling good progress to be made. Children will be given a piece of Maths, English and Comprehension each week, alongside weekly spellings. It must arrive promptly and to a high standard.
Monday: Maths homework – to be handed in on Wednesday
Wednesday: English homework – to be handed in on Friday
Friday: Comprehension homework – to be handed in on Tuesday
Friday: Spelling homework – to be handed in on the following Thursday
Swimming
Children in Year 4 have the opportunity to take part in weekly swimming lessons. They must bring their swimming kit every Tuesday. They will need a swimming costume or shorts and a towel. Earrings are not allowed in the swimming pool, so it is recommended children do not attend school with them in, on a Tuesday.
