On Wednesday 18th September, Years 3 and 4 made a special visit to the new library at Wakefield One. Whilst there, the children were split into two groups and carried out different activities before swapping. The first task for year 3 was to use reference books to find the answers to questions as well as discovering mythical creatures and guessing which was which. Some of the activities were pretty tricky, but the children really got stuck in and gave their best. The second activity was an information and exploration session lead by a librarian. First, the children were informed of all the services the library has to offer, before being told how they can register by simply bringing along their parent. Free time to explore the children’s books came next and everyone enjoyed sitting in the funny chairs and browsing the many books the library has to offer.
This was a great opportunity for the children to see the new, modern facilities that our expanding town has to offer. Children were really eager to join the library and look at the books, especially the ones who had never visited before – even if we did get a little wet in our walk in the rain!
