Enjoying, Progressing, Achieving
To begin our National Maths Day we used measuring scales to weigh the mass of our ingredients to make a pizza!
We then used the cooking time from the recipe and our knowledge of time to work out the exact time it needed to be taken out of the oven! After that we cut the pizzas in to different fractions; including 1/2 and 1/4!
We then put our shape knowledge to the test! Using sticks and play dough to create 2D and 3D shapes- counting the vertices, sides and faces.
During the afternoon we conducted our own investigation to find out children’s favourite fruit in our class. We constructed a tally chart together on the board by counting how many children chose each fruit. We then used our information to construct a huge pictogram in our classroom which represented the data we had found.
