Welcome to the Year 2 Webpage 2017/2018
Year 2 is going to be a challenging year as we begin to prepare for the SATs exams. Reading, writing and becoming confident in the four maths operations are the key areas to your learning this year. You need to stay focused and take responsibility for your own learning, making sure that you have your bag ready each day with everything you need for the day ahead.
Throughout the year we also have some fantastic activities planned to link in with our exciting curriculum. Before Christmas we will be looking at materials for our science topic, reliving the events from the Great Fire of London and mapping out the school playground.
Homework is an essential part of your learning; enabling you to make good progress. You must be well organised to ensure that all homework is completed and handed in on the required day.
Homework will be handed out twice a week and you should spend 20 minutes on each piece. Maths will be handed out on Mondays to be in for Wednesdays and Literacy / SPAG will be handed out on Wednesday’s to be in on Fridays. Alongside your homework, you will also have spellings which will be given out every fortnight on a Wednesday for a test the following fortnight ( Wednesday).
Monday: Maths - to be in for Wednesday.
Wednesday: English - to be in for Friday.
Spellings – Every fortnight ( Test’s every other Wednesday).
P.E kit to be in school on a Monday and taken home on a Friday. PE lessons on Wednesdays.
Please remember to practise the spellings which will be in your child’s red spelling books.
It is important that you listen to your child read every day.
