Throughout the week, Year 1 & 2 have been celebrating the Chinese New Year (of the horse). The children experienced a wide range of cross-curricular activities, ranging from: visiting a Chinese Restaurant, learning Mandarin, creating tangrams, using Chinese characters to create repeated patterns, learning and writing about the 'Great Race', using Chinese novels to influence their writing, making Chinese Lanterns, designing Cherry blossom trees, making dragons with Anne Dixon (art freelance worker) and so much more! Please visit the class webpages to see pictures and videos.
Our Chinese New Year Theme Week culminated in a wonderful dance performance in the hall. Children enjoyed performing in front of their parents and showed good coordination and team work. Here are some action shots and videos from their performances... enjoy!
