Cutting skills

In your home learning pack that you have collected from school you will have found a pair of scissors.

Also, in the fairy tales pack there are some Jack and the Beanstalk cutting skills sheets. The sheets have lots of different pictures from the story in different shapes.

Ask your child to cut along the lines to cut out the pictures, helping them to hold the scissors properly if they need your support. Please remind your child of the names of the different shapes that we have been learning in mathematics as they cut out the pictures.

Once they have cut the pictures out, encourage them to stick them on to a blank piece of paper to create their own Jack and the Beanstalk picture.

!!!!! Please remind your child that scissors are very sharp and we must use them carefully and safely. They must only be used for cutting paper and we do not walk/run around with them in our hands as this can be very dangerous.

Please watch the short video below with your child.
