Enjoying, Progressing, Achieving

Monday 18th January

Good morning everybody!

I hope you all have had a good weekend.

Today’s activities are as follows

Firstly, today we will be recapping our phonics sounds we learnt last week.

Secondly, we are going to learn the new sound “y

Can you join in with Geraldine the Giraffe learning the “y” sound

You can join in with the song here!

Today I would like you to draw something that begins with the letter “y

Some examples of these are:

What did you draw?

Can you practise writing, what you have drawn?

How to write the letter "y"

This week we are going to be looking at the book “When I grow up” written by Melanie Joyce

Can you draw me a picture of the jobs your parents/guardians do?

Can you write what they do?

Upload your pictures on the class blog or our Microsoft teams! I look forward to seeing your pictures!

This week we are going to look at patterns

What is a pattern?

Can you make a pattern at home?

What did you use for your pattern?

Can you find any patterns in your house?

Today I have made a little science experiment for you to do at home.

All you need is foil, water and some weighted items (Coins, pebbles, lego)

Can you make a boat?

How many items can you float?

What happens if you change the shape of your boat?

I look forward to seeing how many items you can float!

Do not forget on Tuesday 19th January at 1pm, I would like us all to meet on Teams! We will do a mini lesson recapping some of the tasks we have done this past week! It will be a great opportunity for your children to see the other pupils and do some face to face learning! This lesson will be between 15-30 minutes and will include some counting, phonics and a story!

(Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately, and the environment is clear and safe – if not your child will be removed from the stream for SAFEGUARDING purposes)
