3D Shapes

Task 1- Watch the 3D shape properties video. Can children repeat the properties vocabulary, such as: Vertices, Edges and Faces? can they identify them on the shapes? once you have watched the video, play it again and pause and ask them to point to the vertices, edges or faces. If you scroll down this page, there are a range of properties activities and a quiz to test knowledge.

Task 2- Recap the 3D shapes from yesterday using real life objects- cubes, cuboids and spheres. Point out the properties of the shapes and use the 3D shape poster to assess children's knowledge. Children can self assess their own knowledge as an extra challenge!

Task 3- Watch the cylinder and cone video below to introduce the shape. Look at the pictures to represent the cylinder, cone and pyramids. Can you name these shapes? can you spot the properties of these shapes? Can you find these shapes in your house? what can the shapes do? can they roll? can you stack them up?
