  • Orders two items by weight or capacity.

Today I would like you to do a little science experiment.

We are going to be experimenting what container can hold you most liquid. The amount of liquid it can contain is the capacity.

I would like you to pick containers (this could be cups, bowls, mugs, plastic bottles).

What I want you to do is investigate which container can hold the most liquid.

Here are pictures of my experiment.

Instructions

  1. Fill up 1 container (I used blackcurrant squash so it can be seen easier).
  2. Pour the 1st container into a second container – If it over fills the 2nd cup has a smaller capacity, If the 2nd cup still has room at the top the container has a bigger capacity.
  3. Repeat the experiment till you have found out which container has the biggest capacity and which has the smallest.

I’d love to see your exploration to find out which object has the biggest and smallest capacity.
