Exploring my home
Discuss with children where they live. Do they know their address? Do they know what is surrounding their homes? Do they know their route to school? can they describe this to you?
Task- Children to complete an A-Z of their home by walking around the house and garden to find something beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Write these in your lined books or in the class notebook on teams. for example
A- Amazon Alexa
Do this for all the letters of the alphabet. Do not worry about the spellings for these words, children should be encouraged to spell words phonetically, using their phase 3 sounds.
Task- Children to think about, where their house is and what they might find in the local area. Create a map of the local area using sticks, leaves and other miscellaneous things that you can find in your gardens (alternatively, use things that you can find in your bedroom like beads, bricks, counters etc). Use the video below if you are finding this difficult. Alternatively, children can draw this in their unlined books, drawing pictures of their homes and the roads/ shops nearby. Please take a picture of this and post it on teams or our class blog so I can see who has done this!
