Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 Webpage

Year 6 will be a challenging year as we begin to prepare for the SATs exams. You must stay focused, take responsibility for your own learning and demonstrate your ‘bounce back ability’. On a daily basis you must ensure you keep up to date with all your homework and revision.

Throughout the year we also have some fantastic activities planned to link in with our exciting curriculum. Before Christmas, we have the challenge of climbing to the summit of Pen Y Ghent, a trip Cadbury’s World, Book Night, Wakefield museum and our Greek day.

Homework
Homework is an essential part of your learning; enabling you to make good progress. You must be well organised to ensure that all homework is completed and handed in on the required day.

Homework will be handed out each day of the week and you should spend 30 minutes on each piece. Alongside your homework, you will also have revision to complete based on the work we have covered in class.

Monday: Maths homework- to be handed in on Wednesday
Tuesday: SPaG homework- to be handed in on Thursday
Wednesday: English homework - to be handed in on Friday
Thursday: Arithmetic homework- to be handed in on Monday
Friday: Comprehension homework- to be handed in on Tuesday

Diary
Your diary will help to make sure that you are well organised. It must be brought into school every day to record the homework that you are given each day. It is your responsibility to ask your parents to sign your homework diary at home every weekend. It will be checked on a Monday morning.

PE Kit
This needs to be brought into school on a Monday and taken home to be washed on a Friday. P.E can take place on any day of the week so it is important that it is in school all week.
