WW1 Poppy Clay Workshop

We had a fabulous start to the week on Monday 22nd September when artists Jan and Bronwyn visited our school. They worked with Class 1 all day and taught us various techniques; rolling out clay, sticking it together, making patterns, slab and slump and the thumb pot technique. We used these new skills we'd learned in the morning to each make a clay poppy in the afternoon.

The next step is to fire our poppies in the kiln before glazing them. We are all looking forward to seeing them once fired and glazed. They will be used to create a special poppy installation along with all the other classes at Greenhill to represent all those who died in WW1 and commemorate 100 years since the First World War.
