Coding Workshop - Internet Safety Day

Internet Safety Day

This morning we learnt about a boy called Jay. He is 14 years old and has recently joined Facebook and Twitter. He is very excited about the fact that he has 1,000 friends already! One of his 'friends' has asked to meet up and he's sure he's safe because he has added pictures of the local area and even knows his teacher's name.  Jay asked class five for their help. They wrote him a persuasive letter explaining why he shouldn't meet the 'friend' using what they know about E-Safety.

In the afternoon we studied how to create a Caesar cipher code using iPads. We then created a safe cipher code that only us and our partners understand. We created these to send messages online so we could tell if they were our real friends or someone pretending to be them.  Children enjoyed writing these codes and wrote some very interesting messages
